How Forma subject isolation works

Subject isolation separates a foreground subject from its background using pixels that are already in the image.

Processing stays on your device

Forma uses Apple Vision to identify the foreground. The request runs on your device and does not upload your source image to Meridian.

Subject isolation does not generate replacement people, objects, scenery, or text. It creates a mask around existing pixels before Forma traces the result.

What it cannot promise

Subject isolation can miss fine hair, transparent edges, shadows, or objects that blend into the background. Review the preview before exporting.

Forma controls its processing and export. It cannot promise how an unaffiliated service will describe the exported file.
